About the land

You can find out about KHTI, what criteria we are using for the land search, volunteering and fund raising listed here.

  • Yes, other medieval recreation groups, and possibly other non-profit organizations, will be able to rent the land.

  • No. KHTI will not be running a general campground. Our policies state we will rent the land to other non-profit organizations only. There are a good many reasons for this policy, mostly having to do with zoning, our tax-exempt purpose, and insurance liability.

  • That is one of the reasons we want to buy land. Suitability of a piece of land as a war site is one of our criteria when looking at land for possible purchase. Potential use as a war site is the reason we would like land with a small woods. Some rolling hills and gorges would also be nice to play in. We might finally have a place where archers can play without having to worry about inadvertent intruders.

  • Yes. There will undoubtedly be some restrictions and leash (or corral) laws depending upon the type of animal, but people will be able to bring pets to events with them. However, if an animal is a known danger, loud, or in other substantial ways detracts from the enjoyment of the event for other participants, the owner will be asked not to bring the animal to future events.

  • As California has no dry counties, there will be no legal barriers to the consumption of alcohol. Anyone past their twenty-first birthday will be able to bring legal potables to the site as they wish. Anyone caught giving or selling alcohol to minors will be dealt with appropriately.

  • That will not be under the control of KHTI, but rather of the West Kingdom. The ability of groups to do this will depend to a large extent on the physical layout of the site and whether there are any hills, trees, or other natural sound barriers. It is likely that any designated "quiet area" will be physically separated from the bulk of the camping, since bardic circles, victory parties and general noise making will always be with us. If there are no natural sound barriers, then we will continue to rely on courtesy.

  • Talk to one of the Directors of KHTI, or a staff person, or send your question to the KHTI address. We will try to answer all of your questions, and if your question is of general interest, we'll include it here.
